According to folk singer and anti-war activist Joan Baez, she doesn't know why she was not allowed to perform for recovering soldiers recently at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Having accepted an invitation from John Mellencamp to join him, she later discovered she was not "approved" by the Army to take part.
I don't even know why this is news. After getting blown up by insurgents, the last thing anybody would want is Joan Baez strumming an acoustic guitar talking about lesbian seagulls and how holding hands creates peace. I don't want to hear her, and I'm fine. The intelligence of Joan Baez playing for wounded soldiers is just a step below Slayer doing a lullaby for your baby.
