Dreck

Summer sequel season rolls onward as the latest installment of the green ogre saga hits theaters tomorrow, and I don't care.

Like most other new editions of films, the cast has swollen with more members (or in this case voices) to find some freshness in their franchise. And while they added some of the funnier members of the film community to join their cause, the number of notable voices is so great that only seven actors in Hollywood did not work on the film. And speaking of, I count eight separate writers having a hand on this gem, which is not a good sign.

What bothers me the most (more than adults retardedly getting excited about the opening -- same goes for Harry Potter when it comes out) is Mike Myers and his obnoxious and stupid Scottish accent. This will be the sixth time he's dragged out that tired old accent, and it wasn't funny the first time. Al Leong and Danny Trejo have made careers of being kung-fu guy and hardcore Mexican, but that's why they're called character actors. Myers, certainly more commedian than actor, is doing what Jim Varney did with the annoying Ernest character -- beating us to death with it.

I can deal with avoiding the marketing bonanza, but hearing that goddamn Scotch brougue is like a knife in my ears every time.

And they'll be back in 2010 with number four. Fuck.

UPDATE: Opening weekend gross - $122 million. C'mon people, you're not all taking kids to the theater...what excuse do you have for contributing?
