Oh Henry!

Any day now, Barry Bonds is going to hit a home run and surpass Hank Aaron’s record of 755 knocks, and no celebration is necessary.

On top of being a smug, self-absorbed prick, Bonds has earned his place in the record books through lying, deception, and cheating – wonderful traits that just add to his legendary dickhead status.

Juicers like Jose Canseco and Mark McGuire have already taken their lumps publicly, but Bonds, while he’s swinging his stick, will ride the frenzy into the record books and bask in the spotlight, no matter how dark the glare.

Rocking the sauce has made the Aaron chase all the more compelling, and for a dull sport like diamond bags, has made the game have a purpose for another year. But it still doesn’t validate the record.

If they prove his involvement will they strip the record? Put an asterisk? All signs point to letting it slide – you can’t unfix a fix.

Hank Aaron worked hard and set an incredible record, which will be a historical footnote any moment. Barry Bonds is a cheat, and on top of naturally being a high caliber scumbag, arrogantly steals dignity from a sport that is desperate for positive attention. It would have been a real celebratory moment if somebody who cared about the pride and honor of the game took a pipe to his arm before he hit his target…but that kind of joy is not coming to Mudville.

Fear not, those of you who do care…A-Rod just clipped his 500th, and in a couple of years will break Bonds’ record. Those of you who don’t must already know that pre-season football began last night…
