Inside Betty White's Colon

If there's going to some celebrity news on the site, it won't be about shitty D-listers getting their funbags enhanced!

Betty White, who's 91, eats a hot dog and french fries for lunch. Every day. This question, which plagued no one was answered as she was followed around as "Hot In Cleveland" prepared for it's first live episode. She also has Starbucks blueberry muffins when she arrives at work and also keeps her dressing room stocked with Red Vines. Exciting, right? No. But I had a chance to use this photo from my archive of things downloaded over the years, and make this link useful.

Slow news day...sorry. I'm less shocked at all the shit she eats (and why not given how much time is left) as I am that "Hot In Cleveland" has been on the air for five seasons.

News Of Thrones

In recent promo tour for the 3rd season of Game Of Thrones, Charles "Tywin Lannister" Dance alluded to a 4th season...and that's only some of the recent awesome news.

It didn't take long for previous seasons to get green-lit, but getting a fourth season before the debut of the third is excellent.  Plus the third novel of the series, A Storm Of Swords, was split up, with only the first half being included in the new season, so it not be left unfinished...at least that book.

And as far as completing books four and five (and the unfinished book six), showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have it under control.  “We have the opportunity here to tell a coherent story that lasts for 80 hours,” they said, assuming HBO keeps re-upping the rest of the story.  “We gave up other opportunities because we love these books and want to do them justice."  And there's no reason not to expect them to see it through, as ratings have steadily grown, from 2.2 million viewers when the show debuted to 4.2 million on the final Season 2 episode.

Of course, everything related to the show is hot, including Emilia "Daenerys Targaryen" Clarke, who is currently on Broadway in Breakfast At Tiffany's.  So hot that management at the theater had had to beef up security to enforce their no photography rule. Clarke, who has been going from a strategically placed towel to naked in a bubble bath.  Folks in the balcony are getting a better view, but the best, and certainly least expensive one is a web search for her Season 1 scenes.  Plus you're spared having to deal with the theater crowd.

The Most Interesting Part Of The Twilight Saga

With a douchey name like Bronson Pelletier, he would not only have to be an actor, but have played a werewolf in one (or more - I don't know or care) of the Twilight movies. And to know that he got kicked off a plane for being too drunk, only to end up pissing all over the floor at LAX, well, seems to befit someone by the name of Bronson Pelletier.

______ Me Elmo

You can ask how to get to Sesame Street...just don't ask the the accused pedophile who lives there.

Kevin Clash, best know as the voice and puppeteer of Elmo, has taken a leave of absence from the program after a 23 year old claimed he began a sexual relationship with Clash seven years ago.  And thanks to the program, we can all do the math and show that 23 - 7 =16, and that's not quite right if you're 45.  If this doesn't give Republicans ammo to try and stop funding public television, nothing will.

Clash, who is gay, has acknowledged to TMZ (the bastion of journalistic importance) he had a relationship with the young man, but insists it only took place after his accuser was an adult.  We'll have to wait and see if this is a jilted ex or something more serious, but in the meantime, there will be plenty of hand-up-ass and don't-tickle-me jokes.

Saturday Morning Videos - Episode VII

It was announced late yesterday that the Star Wars franchise has a writer attached...Michael Arndt, who won an Oscar for writing Little Miss Sunshine, had provided a 40 page treatment for the next three installments, and will pen Star Wars Episode VII. He was also behind Toy Story 3 and the upcoming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.  There's still no director attached, but thankfully Conan has been sharing some audition tapes.

Another Self-Credentialed Doctor

What is it with former 90's celebs who all of a sudden think they have a PhD in medicine?

First, Jenny McCarthy rewrites the medical journals with her no-science approach to curing autism, and now Sheryl Crow is an expert on the brain.  Yesterday on Katic Couric's talk show, the singer said she believes her benign brain tumor was caused by frequent cellphone use.  Sure, Crow admits that no doctors will confirm it, but she thinks it's possible her meningioma, is related, since she used to spend hours on the "old, archaic cellphones."

Scientists say evidence linking cellphone use to brain tumors has been inconsistent, and most studies have not found a link.  About 6,000 people are diagnosed with meningiomas in the US annually according to the National Cancer Institute. And it just so happens that Crow falls into the group that is most prone to developing meningiomas - women in their 40s and 50s.

Here's a little background science for ya:  Cellphones emit radiofrequency energy, which can be absorbed by tissues, but the only known biological effect of this energy (like the kind emitted by microwave ovens), is a tiny rise in temperature.  That is not known to damage DNA the same way as the ionizing radiation in X-rays, and damage to DNA is considered a necessary step to cause cancer.

A Danish study of nearly 2.9 million people published in 2011 found that those who used cellphones for 11 years or more were no more likely to develop a type of benign brain tumor than those who used cellphones for a shorter period, or not at all. Another study from Denmark found no link between the location of brain tumors called gliomas and the regions of the brain that are exposed to the highest levels of radiofrequency energy. In addition, between the 1987 and 2007, a period when cellphone use rose rapidly, there was no increase in the incidence of brain cancer in the United States, the NCI says.

So there is no conclusive evidence that cellphones cause brain tumors.  Sheryl Crow's music however...

Golden Throat Is No Golden Glove

Sometimes, a headline is beautiful.

"American Idol Scotty McCreery Hit In Throat While Pitching For High School Baseball Team" tells you everything you need to know, and yet still makes you want more.

It's easy to forget the television karaoke star was only a student when he headed to Hollywood with nothing but a smirk and a 50 year-old's voice, because, well, who cares.  But thankfully, he's been thrown back into the media cycle for doing what all young men strive to do: become a star athlete so he could get laid - because letter-men get ass and choirboys don't.

McCreery took the mound for his second varsity baseball star when a one-hopper (that's a term from baseball, and baseball is said to be a sport)  bounced up and hit him directly in the throat during the third inning. Reporters said he "showcased his toughness" by staying in the game and pitching for three more innings, and who can argue?  Everybody knows your throat and pitching arm are connected!

I just wish that some of the American Idol contestants played more aggressive contact sports...

Death By Ridiculous, Part 2 - Hollywood Deep Throat

Hollywood publicist Michael Sands may have been described as “the brains behind Mr. Blackwell’s Worst Dressed List”, but he will be posthumously know as "the throat behind choking to death on a beef sample at a Gelson’s".

According to his son, Sands had narrow airways caused by "chronic obstructive pulmonary disease", which made him more prone to choking.  Apparently, the disease made him unable to chew meat properly before trying to swallow.  From my research, he died as colorfully as he lived.  He claimed to be an undercover CIA operative, though I find it unlikely he helped capture Abu Abbas, the terrorist behind the hijacking of the Achille Lauro cruise ship in 1985.  He also sold designer cheesecakes and appeared partially nude in a picture in People magazine.  And of course, mocking the low-hanging fruit that is celebrity fashion.

Yeah, being in mouth-cramming meat-lust is an appropriate exit when that's your life.

Project XXX

While one or two actresses actually made it out of porno into some mainstream success, it's far from the norm (insert Meryl Streep gangbang joke here).  But dreams do come true...

Take Jonathan Daniel Brown, the chubby bro in Project X, who was in a real blue movie.  Three years ago, he was in Bang Bros' Fuck Team Five episode of "Nerd Hunting", and as said hunted nerd, he suffered greatly at the hands (and vaginas of) Jennifer Dark, Ashli Orion and Phoenix Marie. Orion spoke to Adult Video News about performing with Brown, and she recalled quite a bit about her co-star, given their scene was shot in 2008.

“I remember him being this cute little nerdy kid, shy, and super nervous!” she said. “He was really nice so I felt bad that I had to make fun of him in true Fuck Team 5 fashion. The poor guy had to dress up like a fast food worker delivering our order to the van. Instead of burger, he became the meat! I let him fuck me until he popped all over my ass. Being the crazy girl I am, I used my ass as a sauce tray and dipped the fries we ordered in his cum”.  And the answer you're waiting for, “Yes, I ate them and I swallowed. Fucking delish!”

Any you wonder how it was just Brown who because a star...

Blowing It With The Lowest Lying Fruit

You may get spoils from your father's garden, but that does not make you worthy to tend his fields.

Clairissa Irene Riccio, aka Claire Sinclair, the 2011 Playmate of the Year, sought a temporary restraining order against boyfirend Marston Hefner (21, son of Playboy founder Hugh, and not the monster Grendel as his picture would suggest). He was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence Sunday by Pasadena police.  Sinclair's minor injuries were consistent with an assault, but she does not appear to be determined to send her meal ticket boyfriend to jail.

"I will not press charges against Marston Hefner if he keeps his word to give a public apology for physically abusing me on several occasions, and seeks psychiatric help for his anger issues. I don't condone domestic violence, but if one ounce of good can come from this bad experience, then I can live with it and move on."

Not surprisingly, Sinclair does not know that it's not up to her - the state of California can prosecute Marston with or without her consent or assistance.  Besides being frightfully ugly, Marston is also a dumb son-of-a-bitch.  You've got the keys to the girl next door empire and you've gone and fucked it up because you can't deal with how dumb nude models are and you get angry?  Unworthy.

And The Winner For Best Costume Is...

In honor of the documentary they'll be running Sunday on how South Park gets made in less than a week, here's a little behind-the-scenes story about those guys...

Back in 2000, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone went to the Oscars wearing the same dresses that had previously been worn by Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow to the show. And how did they get the courage to pull it off? They took acid.

"We thought of it the week before...we had tuxes as a backup because we thought we were gonna chicken out, and we did," said Trey Parker. " And we were like, ‘Let’s not do that, let’s not do that.’ But then we were like, 'Let’s take a little bit of acid.' So we did that and of course an hour later we were like, 'WE GOTTA WEAR THE DRESSES'." Added Matt Stone, "It made that whole thing just make sense."

This video from Jimmy Kimmel Live details the event.

Magic Accounting

Behold how a multi-billion dollar film franchise can still lose money!

This balance-sheet (or "participation statement") came out last summer, but given the final instalment of the Harry Potter goldmine comes out in a few weeks, it's worth pulling the curtain back to show the shady way studios can make a billion dollars on a film and impossibly show they're $167 million in the red. Maybe they shouldn't have spent so much on advertising and marketing...but fortunately they paid themselves the majority of that budget.

Sedentary Solo Weekend

For the first time in more than a month, I'm not out of town or putting in extra hours at the office, and Scarlett is doing 48 hours in Sin City...you have no idea how excited I am to be able to stay at home and have some down time to get things organized. Okay, I'll leave to watch the European GP, but that's it...

Best of the week: Hef may have lost his young tail, but there's still guys out there picking up the slack. So congratulate Doug Hutchison, the 51-year-old actor (from Lost, The X-Files, and The Green Mile) who married Courtney Stoddard...who is 16. And from the pictures, she looks barely a day under 25.

It should be noted that Stodden is signed to Hutchison's production company, Dark Water, which might have something to do with the wedding. And in order for it to happen, Stodden's mother gave parental consent so that the two could wed in Las Vegas, who aside from her support, added "Courtney was a virgin when she married Doug. She is a good Christian girl." Hutchison is four years older than his father in law, and Alex Stodden said, "Every father can only pray to have such a man behind their daughter." Sir, I imagine that's exactly where he is right now.

Worst of the week: A Jerusalem rabbinical court condemned to death by stoning a dog it suspects is the reincarnation of a secular lawyer who insulted the court's judges 20 years ago. This is why there can never be peace in the Middle East.

Apparently, the large dog made its way into the Monetary Affairs Court in the ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighbourhood of Mea Shearim in Jerusalem, frightening judges and plaintiffs. Despite attempts to drive the dog out of the court, it refused to leave the premises. One of the judges recalled a curse the court had passed down upon a secular lawyer who had insulted the judges two decades previously. Good luck following that logic train, but when you have judicial curses being issued, I guess anything is possible..

They believe the lawyer's spirit to moved into the body of a dog, an animal considered impure by traditional Judaism. One of the judges sentenced the animal to death by stoning by local children, but the dog managed to escape. Further proof it's the reincarnated lawyer! All I can say is oy vey.

Another Slice Of Shut The Fuck Up Pie

I just love rubbing the truth in Jenny McCarthy's face (and anything else I can get away with) ever since she began her crusade to find something and someone to blame for her autistic kid (other than the wrath of a karma-lovin' god).

A new government study adds to the evidence that thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative (until recently found in many vaccines), does not increase children's risk of autism. Kids who had been exposed as babies to high levels of the preservative, either through vaccines they received or their mothers received while pregnant, were no more likely to develop autism, including two distinct subtypes of the condition.

Concerns about a link between vaccines and autism were first raised more than a decade ago by Andrew Wakefield. His report, based on 12 children,
has since been discredited and was retracted earlier this year by the journal that published it. But the damage had been done, and with idiot bigmouths like McCarthy spewing bad info, the health scare caused many parents to shy away from recommended vaccines like the one against measles, mumps and rubella. The result? Outbreaks of all three diseases followed.

The researchers used data for U.S. children born between 1994 and 1999, who were enrolled in one of three managed care organizations. They found 256 children with an autism spectrum disorder and compared them with 752 children who did not have the condition, but were matched for age and sex. No matter when a child had been exposed to thimerosal, there was no increase in the risk of any type of autism spectrum disorder. In fact, children exposed to the preservative between birth and 20 months of age had slightly lower odds of developing the condition.

Super Fun Happy Good Time Weekend

If you're a student of history - or just alive and barely above retarded, then you know people are going to be miserable thinking about the events of nine years ago. There's a F1 race in Monza, amongst other things happening. C'mon everyone, get upbeat!

Best of the week: Social scientists (as opposed to, say anti-social scientists) have analyzed a massive amount of data and determined that it takes roughly $75,000 a year to make a person happy.
The researchers asked over 450,000 participants to rate their lives on a scale of zero to 10, and then determined "emotional well-being" by asking people whether they had been stressed or unhappy the day before. Hmmm, that doesn't seem super accurate in the long term to rating "happiness". Actually, they were looking at how emotional well-being is affected by income, and were not claiming that quality of life doesn't improve when people make more than $75,000 per year. Instead, they determined income strongly affects people's happiness when they make under $75,000.

They said difficult events like illness become harder to bear emotionally, and getting a raise brings a great deal of happiness. But once people make more money than $75,000, their moods are less affected by how much money they make. People who make more money aren't as stressed by divorce, and aren't as excited by raises as their less wealthy counterparts. I guess $75,000 is a good starting point, but I doubt they checked in with people who were in the $750,000 neighborhood.

And: One of the greatest dangers of the future are drug resistant antibiotics, which are becoming more common. Lucky for us, scientists at the University of Nottingham have discovered an effective antibiotic in something that's very common...cockroaches.

According to research, the central nervous system of cockroaches is nearly 90% effective in killing drug-resistant bacteria, which must be why those bastards can live through a nuclear war. Clearly, their nasty, vile living conditions have juiced up their immune system to order to survive, making roach brains are loaded with natural antibiotics. Let's just take the potential good news and not ask how the hell they figured this out, let alone ended up on that research path.

Worst of the week: These are just a few of the headline from the other side of the border:

"85 prisoners escape jail on Mexico-U.S. border"

"
Drug Hitmen Kill 25 In Mexican Border City"

"
Clinton says Mexico drug wars starting to look like insurgency"

"
Weary of drug war, Mexico debates legalization"

Mexico has almost become a caricature of it's worst qualities...and it's going to keep getting worse. To call it a lawless shithole would be polite, and the idea of a wall along the border is starting to sound real good. President Felipe Calderon has no control in his own country, and since he came into office in 2006, cartel violence has been rampant and the death toll have topped 28,000.

They can't keep order or suppress the cartels, and they think that if you can't beat them, join 'em? Brilliant idea. An expert on Mexico's criminal syndicates said the government is too weak to legalize and regulate narcotics and marijuana, and the country"does not even have the capacity to regulate its pharmaceutical products." The comparison to Colombia of 20 years ago, when drug traffickers controlled portions of that country, is becoming ever more true.

Mexico, get your fucking shit together.

And: Hipsters suck. And finally, we may be rid of their media-saturating presence.

They rocked out as iPod silhouettes, played counterpart to the PC in Apple ads, and became the image of Urban Outfitters and American Apparel. Now, the same companies that courted the "hipster" demographic have dropped the connection, as the term has become a dirty word. Many consumers of indie music, art and culture who appear to fit the hipster mold are now shying away from the stereotype.

The first hipsters, aka "hepsters" or "hep cats," were urban black jazz aficionados who hung out in places like Harlem, but by 1994, after making the cover of Time, the rise of the hipster coincided with the rise of independent music, arts and culture. Eventually, the label began applying less to the "trendsetters who created cool", and instead referred to the gullible consumers who "represented the worst of bourgeois affectations". And for people who did enjoy indie culture, they were now crowned with the now-unpopular term, that presented an image problem..

"It is not a desirable stereotype to be associated with, and in my work I refrain from calling anyone a hipster unless they would like to self-identify," said a researcher. "As you might guess, almost nobody self-identifies."
