Michael Sullivan has a thing for robots, sex and stop-motion animation. His ongoing film project, The Sex Life of Robots, shows animated bots practicing moves that seem to be ripped right out of a twisted, industrial Kama Sutra.
Sullivan fabricates his robot "actors" out of Barbie dolls, G.I. Joe action figures and other toys. His procreating pornobots were originally going to star in a robot war movie - "It was going to be all violence, all the time." As usual, on-screen sex turned out to be far more controversial than on-screen violence ever would have been. A teaser clip for The Sex Life of Robots got yanked from YouTube. "Somebody's mom complained, you know, because they didn't want their kid watching, you know, some robot stick his dick in a horse's butt." Clips of movie and an exhibition of some of Sullivan's risqué robot sculptures are now on temporary display at Manhattan's Museum of Sex.
