The 2011 Formula 1 calendar has been announced, and it's the longest run of races in decades.
The grueling 20 race season will begin March 13 in Bahrain, which looks to have a revamped course, and ends in Brazil November 27, reclaiming the tradition after the Abu Dhabi circuit stole the position last year. India will make its debut, providing the circuit passes an official inspection, while the current 19 rounds are all retained, though Germany will switch locations away from Hockinheim. The 2011 season also has Japan and South Korea back to back in October with two-week gaps between the final three in India, Abu Dhabi and Brazil. The events also flow better together in the second half of the year, with a geographical progression from Singapore through the Far East and back via India and the Middle East to South America.
No word as to what tracks may be left off the schedule in 2012, when Austin is scheduled to start more than a decade of races. Also, the allotted eight engines for the race season may need to be expanded to handle the additional strain...not to mention the extra hours for mechanics.
