Rue McClanahan set her alarm this morning to deadly stroke, and now, the actress who paved the old vagina road for Samantha from Sex And The City as Blanche Devereaux in The Golden Girls, has passed at 76.
The actress scored an Emmy for her work on the show in 1987, but had had an active career starting in off-Broadway and regional stages in the 1960s. She played opposite Bea Arthur in Maude, and was a regular in Mama's Family before landing her most famous role. McClanahan was married six times - here's a list of those who've been balls deep: Tom Bish, Norman Hartweg, Peter D'Maio, Gus Fisher, Tom Keel and Morrow Wilson
With McClanahan's death, Warming Glow is predicting Betty White calling it quits within the next 12 months:
"Estelle Getty died in the summer of 2008, followed by Bea Arthur last summer. I don’t mean to take away from the sad event of a person’s death, but I’m just sayin’, if your office has a death pool… you know what to do..."
I don't have much to add because I thought she was already dead. I will say we could be starting another summer of celebrity deaths - it's been a busy week!

That is one of the most brilliantly dark opening lines ever.
