If I Could Viva La Fly

In stranger news, guitar legend Joe Satriani filed a copyright infringement lawsuit last week. Against...Coldplay?

He claims the band copied "substantial, original portions" of his 2004 song, "If I Could Fly" for their 2008 tune "Viva La Vida", which was nominated for a Grammy this week, has topped charts around the world and been used to sell iPods in Apple commercials. Representatives for the band and their label, Capitol Records, did not comment on the matter, and Satriani wants a federal judge to order an accounting so he can determine how much money he may be owed, or else stop using the song.

It's interesting to note that the comparison video was made back in July, which shows a little savvy in seeing how much potential damage there is to collect from the suit. You hear that
Fox, regarding your Watchmen suit? Let the damn film come out on time! I don't know that those English lads listen to much instrumental rock, but goddamn that's a pretty similar set of tunes. Then again, it's not like it's the first time...
