Cliff Gullett was killed after losing control of his bike at 239 miles per hour. Yep, that's what'll happen!
Crashing at Utah's famous Bonneville Salt Flats, the accident occurred during a time trial. Gullett was competing in the 500cc class whenhis bike crashed he totally ate shit. Reports said he was aiming to set a record for the fastest two-stroke, two-cylinder motorcycle. He coincidentally may have set the record for longest road smear.
The Salt Flats have been used as a speed testing ground since 1896 and became famous in 1935 when Malcolm Campbell broke the world land speed record at the site. Since then many records have been attempted or broken, like so many bones and bodies in the pursuit of speed. But face it - if you're going to die, wiping out at over 200 mph is pretty spectacular. It beats falling at home like a pussy, for sure.
